We’re currently recruiting for an English Teacher to join a welcoming and ambitious Secondary School in Bolton for a September start date. This role is ideal for a passionate and dedicated English Teacher who is committed to inspiring a love of literature and language while helping students achieve their full academic potential.

As an English Teacher, you’ll work closely with colleagues, pastoral teams and school leaders to deliver engaging and challenging lessons that support student progress and attainment across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You’ll play a key role in developing students’ reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills, helping them build confidence and achieve success both in the classroom and beyond.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning and delivering engaging English Language and English Literature lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and a love of learning
  • Assessing, monitoring and tracking student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement
  • Differentiating lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles
  • Supporting students in developing their literacy, communication and critical thinking skills
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
  • Preparing students for internal assessments, GCSE examinations and coursework requirements where applicable
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and contribute to curriculum development
  • Building positive relationships with students, parents/carers and wider school staff
  • Promoting high expectations of achievement, behaviour and attendance

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
  • Strong subject knowledge across English Language and English Literature
  • A passion for education and helping young people succeed
  • Excellent communication, organisational and classroom management skills
  • The ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Experience teaching GCSE English is highly desirable
  • ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply
