Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bolton. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children and young people who require additional support with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in education. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop confidence, build positive relationships and achieve their potential within a safe and supportive learning environment.

The Role

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Support pupils in and out of the classroom to encourage engagement with learning.
• Promote positive behaviour through consistent, restorative and nurturing approaches.
• Implement individual behaviour support plans and intervention strategies.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, resilience and independence.
• Act as a positive role model, encouraging positive choices and promoting self-confidence.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Maintain accurate records in line with school safeguarding and behaviour policies.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, Autism, ADHD or additional needs.
• Is calm, patient and confident when managing behaviours that challenge.
• Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Is resilient, adaptable and committed to improving outcomes for young people.
• Has experience within education, care, youth work, residential care or a similar setting (desirable), although candidates with transferable skills and the right attitude are encouraged to apply.
