Milk Education is seeking a motivated and committed Academic Mentor to join a welcoming and inclusive Secondary School in Bolton. Starting in September, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their academic potential across a range of secondary subjects.
Whether you have experience as an Academic Mentor or Teaching Assistant, are a graduate looking to gain classroom experience before pursuing teacher training, or have transferable skills from working with young people, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while developing your experience within education.
Working closely with teachers across a variety of subject areas, you’ll provide tailored academic support, helping students build confidence, develop their skills and achieve their learning goals in a positive and supportive school environment.
Your Role
- Deliver targeted academic support to individual students and small groups across a range of secondary subjects
- Work alongside teaching staff to reinforce lesson content and support students in making continued progress
- Encourage confidence, resilience, independent learning and active participation in lessons
- Plan and deliver intervention sessions to meet the individual needs of students
- Assist with preparing classroom resources and supporting learning activities
- Provide additional support to students who require guidance to overcome barriers to learning
- Promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s expectations and policies
- Develop strong working relationships with students, colleagues and parents/carers
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment while supporting student wellbeing and safeguarding
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with young people in a school, childcare, tutoring, coaching or similar setting (desirable)
- Is passionate about supporting students’ academic progress and personal development
- Has a positive, dependable and enthusiastic approach
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Works well as part of a collaborative team
- Is adaptable, proactive and eager to continue learning
- Has an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities or is willing to complete the relevant training
- Holds a relevant qualification or degree (desirable but not essential)
