We are recruiting for a specialist SEMH primary school in Liverpool, supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Our students often face challenges with behaviour in mainstream settings, and we provide a safe, structured environment to help them succeed. We are looking for a committed Behaviour Support Classroom Assistant with SEN experience to join our team and make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in managing challenging and complex behaviour in the classroom
  • Implement behaviour support plans and strategies consistently
  • Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and self-regulation
  • Monitor and document behaviour incidents and student progress
  • Promote a safe, structured, and calm learning environment
  • Assist in de-escalation and conflict resolution when necessary

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience supporting students with challenging behaviour, preferably in SEMH or PRU settings
  • Skilled in behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Strong understanding of social, emotional, and mental health needs in secondary students
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable, able to respond calmly under pressure
