An inclusive and ambitious secondary school in Barnsley is looking to appoint a dedicated Pastoral Officer to play a key role in supporting pupils’ welfare, attendance, behaviour, and overall engagement with school life. About the Role
- Providing pastoral guidance and support to students throughout the school day
- Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional wellbeing
- Monitoring attendance, behaviour records, and safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate interventions are put in place
- Building strong working relationships with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families, and external professionals
- Supporting pupils who may face social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning challenges
- Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting the implementation of behaviour and attendance improvement strategies
- Acting as a key point of contact for students requiring additional pastoral support

About You
- Have previous experience working within a pastoral, behaviour, safeguarding, attendance, or student support setting in a secondary school
- Be confident supporting young people with a range of emotional, behavioural, and additional needs
- Possess excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Be passionate about making a positive impact on students’ personal growth, wellbeing, and educational success
- Have a proactive and supportive approach to working with pupils, families, and staff
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
