Security Specialist

You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the Intel (N21A), Intel/Warfare (N21), Military Sealift Command (MSC) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

Duties

• You will ensure sufficient control and protection of national security information, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), electronic data and media, and classified discussions.
• You will ensure extremely sensitive SCI is properly stored, discussed, packaged, and transported in accordance with SCI administrative procedures.
• You will ensure need-to-know principles are enforced in accordance with executive orders, implementing directives, regulations, and statutes.
• You will evaluate the effectiveness of special access policies, plans, and procedures and develop protective measures for improving the security program.
• You will analyze inspection results and direct and track remedial actions.
• You will retrieve information from a broad array of sources and analyze the overlapping and sometimes conflicting requirements to make decisions involving security operations.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
• Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
• You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification.
• Certification required is: Security Fundamentals.
• Certification required is: Security Asset Protection.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating SCI programs and SCIF operation.
• Experience providing assistance, guidance and oversight of SCI programs to ensure compliance with security instructions.
• Experience managing security operations for SCIF.
• Experience evaluating the effectiveness of special access policies, plans, and procedures and developing protective measures for improving security programs.
• Experience implementing policies and operational decisions which affect the ability of organizational elements to obtain processes and disseminate SCI and Top-Secret materials.
