Principal CAD Technician (OHL, Substations & Cabling) Location: Fully Remote (UK) Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits Job Type: Permanent Milford RES is recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering consultancy specialising in overhead lines (OHL), substations and power cable projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Principal CAD Technician to join their expanding technical team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior CAD professional to take a leading role in the delivery of major transmission and distribution projects while working fully remotely from anywhere in the UK. The Role As a Principal CAD Technician, you will lead the production and coordination of high-quality engineering drawings for a range of OHL, substation and cabling schemes. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will provide technical leadership, maintain CAD standards and support the successful delivery of projects from concept through to construction. Key Responsibilities * Produce and review detailed engineering drawings for OHL, substation and cable projects. * Lead CAD delivery across multiple projects simultaneously. * Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior CAD technicians. * Ensure all drawings comply with company, client and industry standards. * Work closely with engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality design solutions. * Maintain and develop CAD processes, standards and best practice. * Support project delivery within agreed timescales and budgets. About You To be considered for this role, you will have: * Extensive experience within the UK power sector, specifically in overhead lines (OHL), substations and/or power cabling. * Expert-level proficiency using MicroStation. * Previous experience working in a Senior or Principal CAD Technician capacity. * Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and design principles. * Excellent communication and coordination skills. * The ability to work independently while supporting wider project teams in a remote environment.
