Milford Rail & Engineering Services are currently supporting a well-established main contractor in their search for an experienced Track / Civils CEM (Contractors Engineering Manager) to join their team in Kent. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring engineering excellence, safety, and compliance across major rail infrastructure projects.

The Role

As a CEM, you will take full responsibility for engineering delivery within your discipline, ensuring all works are planned, managed, and executed in line with industry standards and project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the appointed Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) for track and/or civil engineering works
  • Providing technical leadership and assurance across project delivery
  • Ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards and relevant legislation
  • Managing engineering interfaces and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
  • Reviewing and approving designs, methodologies, and technical submissions
  • Supporting project teams with risk management and technical problem-solving

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Current Authorisation as a CEM in Track and/or Civil Engineering
  • Strong experience working with a main contractor on UK rail infrastructure projects
  • Availability to work in Kent 34 days per week
  • Excellent knowledge of Network Rail standards and processes

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng)
  • Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams on complex rail projects
