About the Role
As a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical systems across a portfolio of clean water and wastewater projects. Working within an established AMP8 framework, you'll collaborate closely with designers, contractors, and client teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role where your engineering expertise and project management capability will directly influence successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering input across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and optioneering through to commissioning.
- Develop and review mechanical designs, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical assurance and ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, ICA, and environmental specialists.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and site activities to ensure safe and timely delivery.
- Support cost estimation, risk management, and programme development.
- Drive innovation and efficiency in mechanical solutions aligned with AMP8 performance targets.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
About You
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent experience).
- Chartered or working toward chartership (CEng) is highly desirable.
- Strong background in water or wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, or similar process-driven environments.
- Proven experience delivering complex mechanical packages within a project engineering or project management role.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong understanding of CDM, H&S legislation, and quality management processes.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across South Wales as required.
