We have an excellent career opportunity for the role of Service Manager to join our amazing team here at Sutherland House in York. Sutherland House is a supported living service that promotes independence and dignity in everyday life. We support individuals to build confidence, life skills, and wellbeing through meaningful routines, activities, and community involvement.
Sutherland House is ideally located just a 10 minute walk from York city centre. Excellent public transport and rail links support easy travel across York and beyond, encouraging choice and freedom.

Our Service Users benefit from great communal links, and we have a job scheme in the process of being implemented alongside a local café, to give all our Service Users the transferable experience they need to progress onto jobs, activities, and general day to day living which in turn provides a better quality of life and a firm sense of wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily operations of the facility, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
- Oversee care and support services, ensuring residents receive person-centred care tailored to their individual needs.
- Supervise, support, and develop staff across care, housekeeping, catering, and maintenance teams.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and care regulations, including CQC standards (or regional equivalent).
- Manage resident admissions, assessments, and care planning in collaboration with clinical and care staff.
- Monitor service quality and implement improvements based on feedback and audits.
- Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to resident wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate records and manage budgets and resources effectively.
About You:
- Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within a care, health, or assisted living setting.
- Strong understanding of care regulations, safeguarding, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, staffing, and operational challenges.
- Compassionate, resident-focused approach with a genuine commitment to high-quality care.
- Relevant qualifications in health and social care or management (e.g., NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care, or equivalent) preferred.
