Overview

Fire Safety Manager – Mileway – Hybrid working from London office. Location: Warrington, England, United Kingdom. This role reports to the Head of Insurance and involves supporting the management of property risk and fire safety across Mileway’s portfolio to reduce insurers’ claims costs and protect buildings and customers’ businesses.

What You’ll Do

  • Support leasing team colleagues in reviewing and managing changes involving potentially higher risk uses.
  • Work closely with insurers and brokers to manage, facilitate and communicate the company\\\’s risk control inspection programme.
  • Manage insurers risk control reports and recommendations; collaborate with colleagues, property managers, customers and insurers to prioritise and address important recommendations.
  • Investigate and communicate trends from insurance claims/losses (especially fires) to help the business prevent re-occurrence.
  • Develop simple, pragmatic standards and processes to reduce fire risk and other property risks; launch these standards and provide clear training and materials.
  • Support construction and development project teams to embed appropriate fire and property risk controls at the design stage and resolve issues collaboratively.
  • Support general risk management activities, including preparing and presenting insurance renewal materials, health and safety initiatives, and business continuity planning.

What You’ll Bring

  • A suitable education in Fire Safety with formal qualifications; NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of full-time experience in a fire safety position with significant exposure to warehousing and logistics property risks.
  • Technical knowledge of property risk controls including human factors, fire protection, modern construction materials and relevant fire codes.
  • Good IT skills and ability to handle large data files for analysis and reporting.
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate, solve problems, and be part of a small flexible team supporting a fast-moving business.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others to manage fire risks effectively.
  • Resourcefulness and a drive to deliver improvements.
  • Good communication skills, ideally with a second European language.
