We are currently seeking additional Support Workers to join our existing team in one of our Nursing Homes in Stratton (SN3). As a Support Worker with a caring nature, who is committed and reliable, you will be joining a dedicated and passionate team.
You may be new to care or have transferable skills and life experience. At Milestones Trust we provide full training to all of our employees, to help them settle into their new roles.
As a Support Worker atMasefield, you will be supporting individuals with day‑to‑day living and a variety of activities. From shopping, personal care, medication support and help at mealtimes, to some light household duties and making that all important night‑time cuppa or supper before bed. You may also support with outdoor activities, like travelling around the area, going to the cinema and beyond. For this reason, it would be desirable that you are a driver.
Masefield is a small nursing home supporting individuals with a diagnosis of learning disabilities and physical disabilities. Individuals are non‑verbal or have limited communication, support with mobility assistance including wheelchair and hoist use, and need support with personal care and daily living tasks.
The main purpose of the role is to provide an integrated, ethical and inclusive service, which meets agreed needs and outcomes for people with learning disabilities requiring health and/or social care, by:
- Actively supporting people to meet their goals and realise their dreams and aspirations, in a person‑centred way
- Promoting empowerment and wellbeing, with care and respect.
- Ensuring that the \’No Secret\’ guidelines are applied to the care, protection and safeguarding of the people we support
The individuals who live at Masefield enjoy a range of activities such as attending the local football matches at Swindon Town Football Club, trips to the cinema and theatre to watch shows that interest individuals, going bowling and swimming and on local shopping trips. You will also support individuals to attend appointments such as to the GP surgery and dentist as well as attending the hairdresser.
As a Support Worker you must be friendly, sociable and enjoy a range of activities, able to support someone to learn new things and develop independence, have a positive outlook and be able to demonstrate that you share our values and are committed to supporting people to get the most out of their day.
Experience is not necessarily required as we offer excellent levels of professional training to all our support workers, with on‑the‑job one‑to‑one coaching and learning, supported by additional educational qualifications if you require further development.
You will be joining a great team of people, who are passionate, skilled, and enthusiastic, and who will work with you to deliver an outstanding level of care and support.
The shifts are early shifts from 07.00hrs to 14.30hrs or late shifts from 14.30hrs to 22.00hrs with the possible flexibility to work long days. However, you will initially work on day shifts to complete your induction and training and to build positive relationships with the people we support and get to know the team and the service.
