Greengates is a vibrant, 15 bedded residential nursing service for adults with enduring mental health needs. We are dedicated to providing person-centred care to support individuals to be as independent as they can be and live their life in the way they choose.
We are looking for someone to join our team as a support worker. The hours will be 37.5 hours per week with a range of shifts including earlies, lates, long days and the occasional night shifts when required. The ideal candidate will be able to work flexibly across the working week.
The right person for the role will have a positive approach to supporting people and will work well both alone and as part of the team, to help us continue to develop the service. As an Unsupervised Support Worker, you will be there for the people we support to provide personal care, medication, emotional support, supporting with appointments and activities.
Greengates is a service that supports vulnerable individuals with complex mental and physical health. The ideal candidate would need to be autonomous in their decision making and able to lead the team at times. It would be expected that appropriate escalation protocols are followed when people we support are unwell or during crisis.
The successful Support Worker will have strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and the people we support, as well as a caring manner and tolerant nature. The successful candidate will ideally have some mental health experience.
There is an expectation for robust documentation for the people we support and the service; all documentation is electronic on systems called Nourish and Camascope. While previous experience in the sector is desirable, we will provide you with the full training required to carry out your duties. However, it is an essential requirement of the role to have completed medication competency training or be willing to undertake this training, if successful, as well as complete all required mandatory training.
It is also essential that you attend team meetings and training regularly and this will be included in your rota.
