Support Worker - Learning Disabilities - Hanham

Full-Time No working from home possible

Looking for a job that's rewarding, varied and genuinely fun?

Could you see yourself supporting someone at a disco, helping the volunteer in their community, enjoying a trip to the cinema, attending an art group, going bowling, gardening, or helping them achieve a personal goal they've been working towards?

About Us

We support five adults with learning disabilities to live active, independent and fulfilling lives in their own homes. No two days are the same, and we're looking for someone who shares our passion for helping people live the lives they choose.

Driving & Community Access

An essential and rewarding part of this role involves driving the people we support out into the community, helping them access local activities and take part in the things they enjoy.

To be considered for this position, it is essential that you hold a full, clean UK driving licence and feel comfortable and confident driving larger or unfamiliar vehicles.

We understand that driving a new vehicle can feel daunting at first. To help you feel completely at ease, we provide dedicated support, guidance, and practice time before you begin driving our residents.

Please note:

Because we have an immediate need to fill this post and want to get our new team member settled quickly, confidence in driving is a core, non-negotiable requirement from day one. If you do not meet these driving criteria, we kindly ask that you look out for our other non-driving vacancies in the future.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will:

  • Support people with daily living skills such as shopping, cooking and budgeting
  • Encourage independence, choice and confidence
  • Support people to access social, leisure and community activities
  • Provide emotional support and build positive relationships
  • Assist with appointments, wellbeing and medication
  • Follow support plans and work closely with families and professionals

The service provides a combination of 1:1 support, shared support and sleep-in shifts, working across a four-week rota including mornings, evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a positive, can-do attitude
  • Shares person-centred values
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Works well as part of a team and independently
  • Is reliable, flexible and enthusiastic
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and is confident driving vehicles belonging to the people we support

Previous experience is welcome but not essential. We're looking for the right values, attitude and willingness to learn.
