Please note that for some roles, a full UK driving licence is required and you must be willing to drive the service vehicle to support people to access the community.
As a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Encouraging and enabling people we support to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, and to develop a positive self-image and maintain good health.
- Supporting people to develop relationships and maintain contact with family and friends.
- Providing the necessary support to maximise independence and develop social and life skills.
- Supporting people to access their local and wider community and maintain a presence within it.
- Supporting people to manage personal finances, medication and plan new and exciting opportunities.
The successful Support Worker will:
- Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the wider team, managers, people we support and other stakeholders.
- Have a caring manner, a resilient nature and a good value base.
- Be flexible around working patterns.
- Experience within the sector is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.
- An understanding of complex needs, learning difficulties, visual impairment or challenging behaviour would be an advantage.
About the services:
Elysian Villas is a 12 bedded service designed to support people with a variety of complex needs. The service is split into three houses where we mix skills and personalities to create an enjoyable environment for both the people we support and staff. Furber Road is a 5 bedded service that supports people with learning difficulties and visual impairments, applying Positive Behavioural Support principles. The service is lively, and the people we support enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle. Across both services, we support people to lead meaningful lives, maintain a strong community presence and take part in a wide variety of activities.
