An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker to join our team at 2a Court Road. Milestones Trust is a not-for-profit charitable organisation. We are recruiting for a support worker for 30 -37.5 hours per week, on a 12-month fixed term contract. Working flexibly to meet the needs of the service, the shift pattern will include bank holidays and every other weekend. There may be a possibility for the role to become permanent.

At 2a Court Road we support 15 adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. We are a unique service split into three houses accommodating 5 people each with various support needs. Enabling the people we support to live enriched and varied lives is at the heart of everything we do; we pride ourselves in working in a person-centred way: “Nothing about me without me”.

As Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring individuals’ health and well-being, record keeping, personal care support, carrying out light cleaning duties, supporting with activities in the community, medication administration, daily cooking.
  • Encouraging and enabling people we support to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, signposting as appropriate, and developing a positive self-image and maintaining good health.
  • Supporting individuals to develop relationships to maintain contact with family and friends.
  • Providing people we support with the agreed necessary support to maximise their independence and to develop social and life skills.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, service users and a range of stakeholders.
  • Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature; experience within the sector is not essential as we will provide you with the training required to carry out your duties.
  • Due to the location of the home and the need to access activities within the local community, it is preferred that staff can drive and are willing to drive the house cars (currently manual vehicles).
  • NVQ 2/ Diploma in Health & Social Care preferable, or willing to train to an equivalent standard.
  • Have an understanding of person-centred planning.
