Milestones Trust is a charity providing high quality support to people with learning disabilities and mental health needs across the Southwest. We are proudly values led, always putting people at the heart of everything we do – including how we support our colleagues.
The Role
We are looking for an organised, proactive and values driven Temporary Staffing Lead to cover maternity leave within our People & Culture team. This role plays a vital part in keeping our services safely staffed. You will lead the day‑to‑day work of the Bank Team, working closely with managers, services and external partners to make sure the right people are in the right place at the right time. It’s a hands‑on role where you’ll be visible, approachable and involved. You’ll take ownership of challenges as they arise, communicate clearly and often, and stick with problems until workable solutions are found – always keeping people, quality and continuity of care at the centre of your thinking.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll manage and coordinate the Trust’s temporary staffing arrangements, with a strong focus on making best use of our internal bank wherever possible.
- That means building and maintaining positive, effective working relationships with service managers, understanding operational pressures, and responding quickly and calmly when cover is needed.
- A key part of the role is working closely with our neutral vendor and agency suppliers.
- You’ll build strong professional relationships, monitor their performance against agreed expectations, and use data to keep agency usage and spend under control, ensuring value for money without compromising safety or quality.
- You’ll work closely with colleagues across resourcing and recruitment, supporting end‑to‑end bank recruitment, ensuring compliance checks, induction and training are completed, and helping services understand and follow temporary staffing processes.
- You’ll also be trusted to:
- Use rostering systems and data to improve how we plan, prioritise and fill shifts
- Provide clear, professional advice and follow‑up when queries or issues arise
- Monitor timesheets, payments and agency spend, resolving discrepancies calmly and effectively
- Challenge inappropriate or non‑compliant requests, including when workers have not completed required training
- Address performance or attendance concerns with fairness, confidence and integrity, escalating where appropriate
Throughout, you’ll balance autonomy with accountability – knowing when to act, when to ask, and how to work within regulatory, safeguarding and organisational boundaries.
How we work at Milestones Trust
We want someone who takes ownership, assumes positive intent, and thrives in a collaborative environment. You’ll share information openly, support colleagues when things are pressured, and be comfortable offering respectful challenge when needed. You’ll understand how your role fits into the wider picture, take pride in doing things properly, and contribute to a team culture where people feel trusted, supported and clear on their purpose.
About you
This role would suit someone with experience in resourcing, recruitment, HR administration or staffing coordination, who is confident managing competing priorities and working under pressure. You’ll bring:
- Strong organisation and time‑management skills
- Clear, confident communication and a professional, welcoming approach
- A practical, solutions‑focused mindset
- Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and databases
- The ability to work on your own initiative while staying closely aligned with your team
- Experience of electronic rostering systems or temporary staffing models would be an advantage, but not essential.
Here at Milestones Trust, we recognise that without the hard work, commitment and passion of our staff, we wouldn’t be the charity we are today. That’s why we are committed to rewarding you with a competitive pay and benefits package including:
- 34 days’ annual leave, including recognised public holidays
- Learning and development to support your career growth
- Nationally recognised qualifications, from entry‑level care to management
- Flexible working, with rotas provided in advance
- Occupational Sick Pay after two years, increasing with service
- Health Cash Plan after probation, offering at least £695 cashback for health treatments (dental, optical, therapies, maternity/paternity, prescriptions)
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
- Free enhanced DBS check
- Dayforce Wallet, giving you access to your earnings before payday
- Employee referral scheme with financial rewards
- Employee Assistance Programme from day one, offering confidential 24/7 support
- Company pension scheme to help grow your retirement savings
We pride ourselves with being able to offer staff opportunities to develop and progress their careers within the Trust. For an informal conversation about the role, please contact Gosha Lojek on 07810 666 367.
