Do you want to join a team that provides a person-centred service to enable the people we support to live a fulfilling life? We have an exciting opportunity available in Longwell Green. Bath Road is a small residential service for 6 individuals with Learning Disabilities. The small size of the service enables the staff team to develop close and supportive relationships with their colleagues in this long-standing staff team, as well as the individuals living at Bath Road. The people we support at this service are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, kind, caring, supportive, flexible to meet their needs, adaptable to change and who likes to spend time doing activities (both inside and outside of the service). You might be new to Social Care and have life experiences and a variety of skills and abilities which will benefit the people who live at Bath Road. We will be committed to ensuring you have the training and mentoring required with the induction into this role. This Support Worker role will give you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge and become a vital part of the changing service. As a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include: To encourage and enable the people we support to make day-to-day choices and major life decisions, signposting as appropriate, and to develop a positive self-image and maintain good health To support individuals to develop relationships and maintain contact with family and friends To provide the people we support with the agreed necessary support to maximise their independence and to develop social and life skill Medication competency (you will be given support and training to obtain competency) be able to recognise health issues and to attend health appointments is vital, as each person has current health needs that need to be observed and reacted to when needed Be able to support people with their personal hygiene needs and have some understanding of non-verbal communication Be an enthusiastic and energetic member of the team The successful Support Worker will: Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, people we support and a range of stakeholders Have a caring manner and a tolerant nature, experience within the sector is not essential as we will provide you with training required to carry out your duties Due to the location of the home and the need to access activities within the local community, it is preferred that staff can drive. We need you to be IT literate to use digital care plans and medication systems and attention to detail is vital.
