We aim to achieve just one goal when supporting people with enduring mental health needs living in the community – giving the people we support every chance to live their best life! Whether that’s through gaining more independence, learning a new skill, attending education, or securing their own paid job, we work with every individual to make sure that they can live with maximum choice and involvement.
This is an interesting and varied role, which would suit a confident, self-motivated person who enjoys meeting people and can use their initiative to identify and capitalise on opportunities for development. We are a small team who support people who live independently in their own homes, in a shared environment or in their own flats. This role requires working across multiple services within the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area, including Fishponds, Downend, Southville and other locations in our outreach services. Shift patterns vary and are flexible around what the individuals would like support with each week. Support hours include some evenings and weekends and lone working will also be a requirement of the role, so being self-motivated and able to use your initiative is crucial.
As Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting people to manage a tenancy
- Develop strategies and resilience to manage their own mental health
- Developing independent living skills
- Budgeting
- Support to manage relationships and much, much more.
The successful Support Worker will:
- Be person-centred in your approach, encouraging, inspiring and can think creatively
- Have excellent active listening and communication skills and can adapt your skills and knowledge to the needs of the people you will be supporting
- Are flexible, proactive and passionate about supporting people to achieve their goals
- Hold a current driving license and can use your own car for work
At Milestones Trust we recognise that without the hard work, commitment and passion of our staff, we wouldn’t be the charity that we are today. In return, we are committed to rewarding you with a competitive pay and benefits package including:
- 30 days’ annual leave, including recognised public holidays
- Learning and development to support your career growth
- Nationally recognised qualifications, from entry‑level care to management
- Flexible working, with rotas provided in advance
- Occupational Sick Pay after two years, increasing with service
- Health Cash Plan after probation, offering at least £695 cashback for health treatments (dental, optical, therapies, maternity/paternity, prescriptions)
- Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
- Free enhanced DBS check
- Dayforce Wallet, giving you access to your earnings before payday
- Employee referral scheme with financial rewards
- Employee Assistance Programme from day one, offering confidential 24/7 support
- Company pension scheme to help grow your retirement savings
