The Registered Nurse will have the responsibilities of working within the local community and lead agency structure to assure that the personal care services program is implemented in accordance with established guidelines and contract requirements. Additional responsibilities include using principles of supervision, reflective practice, and staff development, to provide primary support and appropriate oversight to build and model a professional strengths-based program.

The Registered Nurse will oversee the recruitment and the hiring recommendations of personal care staff, ensuring that they can implement the philosophy and model of Patient Centered Care. They will direct activities of clinical operations to ensure that services are provided at quality levels consistent with professional standards and the goals of Milestone, LLC. The Registered Nurse will maintain a tracking list of all nursing patients, update pertinent information daily, and be familiar with patient care.

The Registered Nurse will maintain awareness of Medicaid guidelines and revisions and implement procedures necessary to work within the framework of the law. They will ensure that all staff attend all required education sessions as outlined in the orientation materials and contract with personal care customers. The Registered Nurse will assess and develop strategies to address knowledge and skill gaps of personal care and support staff, providing adequate orientation, professional development opportunities, and study time to remediate gaps in necessary knowledge and skills.

The Registered Nurse will assign client caseloads and monitor personal care staff ability to build and manage caseload. They will provide useful developmental feedback and confront and develop a plan with staff to address performance and resolve issues, building confidence and skill of personal care staff. The Registered Nurse will provide supervision and evaluation of personal care staff and administrative data support staff.

The Registered Nurse will actively participate in community coalition/advisory board meetings based on agency policy. They will help develop and maintain community referral sources for the program and develop and implement external and internal systems to assure timely receipt and disposition of referrals. The Registered Nurse will assist in developing strategies for using local print and electronic media to showcase the program.

The Registered Nurse will work within agency and budget specifications, ensuring that staff have the necessary infrastructure in place as quickly as possible. They will develop and maintain appropriate materials for the community and client, oversee the allocation and design of space for materials to be stored, and ensure that all forms and other materials are ordered in a timely manner, organized, and available for use by the personal care staff.

The Registered Nurse will assist in managing organizational structure and systems adequately so that personal care staff may stay focused on clients. They will help ensure implementation of quality improvement strategies and develop methods for ongoing assessment of staff development needs, comparing available data to structure appropriate continuing education and guidance of staff.

The Registered Nurse will evaluate implementing agency outcomes and interventions, maintaining relationships based on trust, support, and growth with team colleagues and community members. They will ensure that supervision of personal care staff utilizes principles and concepts of motivational interviewing, coaching, and reflective practice.

The Registered Nurse will develop and implement regular reflective practice supervision within the program and conduct field visits. They will provide regular case conferences and team meetings as recommended, ensuring rewards and incentives are aligned with the goals of the program. The Registered Nurse will effectively assist personal care staff in analyzing complex problems and case situations.
