We are an injection moulder that has provided innovative and complex small mouldings to the transformer, power conversion, EV and renewables markets for over 50 years, moulding fire retardant glass filled materials and engineering polymers such as LCP and PEEK. We are looking for a competent and experienced mould setter/technician to join our Afternoon shift to replace our technician who is retiring after 40 years with us. You will act as a lead for this shift of 4, so you will already have experience as a shift lead, managing people or maybe you are just looking for your next move upwards. Reporting to the Factory Manager.
Profile / Skills
- Must have experience of setting mould machines between 35 to 200 tons (ideally Arburg).
- Experience in multi cavity, hot runner and hot tip systems.
- Previous experience in setting new machines and tools from scratch and optimising tools to give high dimensional repeatability.
- Knowledge of engineering polymers and the optimisation and processing of these materials.
- A constant focus on quality and speed.
- Experience of Lean and/or 5S is an advantage.
- Must be self-motivated, adaptable and organised and be able to use your own initiative.
- A positive can-do attitude is encouraged and embraced.
Duties
- Fit and set both insert and full tools to our range of moulding machines.
- Ensure zero moulding defects or rework.
- Ensure cycle rates are achieved or exceeded.
- Carry out cleaning of the machines to ensure 100% uptime.
- Complete first off inspection of parts.
- Basic maintenance and cleaning of tools before, after or during production runs.
- Keep a tidy and safe working environment.
- Operate up to 5 machines when required when machine setting is not required.

- Manufacture of components at required speed rates, on time and to agreed quality standard.
- Tool setting time.
- Zero tool damage / Tool cleaning maintenance adhered to.
- Work safely, effectively and efficiently to deliver value to the business.
