Our team is growing, and we’re excited to welcome a talented Associate Director, Asset Management to join us.
As Associate Director at Last Mile Asset Management (LMAM), you will lead technically focused teams, using your background in construction or engineering to drive operational excellence across our asset management function. You’ll play a pivotal role in developing strategic partnerships, removing barriers to adoption, and positioning Last Mile as the asset adopter of choice in the industry. This role requires a balance of stakeholder engagement, technical compliance, and a long-term focus on safeguarding asset value.
You’ll also support business transformation initiatives, contribute at board level, and work closely with the senior leadership team to deliver LMAM’s strategic goals. You’ll be responsible for setting and managing budgets within your function, using your strong numerical skills to ensure effective financial oversight and planning. With a proven ability to analyse, manage, and enhance operational processes, you will champion efficiency, productivity, and resilience—while fostering a strong sense of unity and identity across your teams and the wider Last Mile Group.
We’re flexible on location, with various travel to our regional offices as part of the role.
Your responsibilities as an Associate Director (Asset Management):
- Define, develop and implement business change initiatives that drive efficiency, maintain compliance and support growth of the Last Mile owned asset base.
- Lead, develop and enhance LMAM’s capability starting at the point a new network is commissioned through to all network related asset management activities, including but not limited to, identifying and securing the right commercial arrangements, resources, systems, technical and operational standards, and procedures.
- Maintain and continuously develop and improve maintenance, inspection and emergency activities across all Last Mile networks to comply with relevant industry, statutory, regulatory requirements and recognised good practice.
- Ensure the timely, and quality, submission of all Last Mile technical and network operations related regulatory and statutory reporting requirements such as Guaranteed Standards of Performance, Water Resource Management Plans, Drinking Water Safety Plans and the Gas Safety Case.
- Ensure the safe, reliable and available operation of all networks adopted, operated and maintained by LMAM on behalf of Last Mile Group Infrastructure businesses.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Experience in a senior leadership position in a construction or engineering background.
- Exceptional knowledge of core operational functions and principles, including commercial, logistics, engineering, and employee management.
- Working knowledge of relevant construction industry regulations and legislation.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering process change and of continuous improvement.
- Utilities experience, with independent licensed utility operators, would be viewed positively, though is not essential.
