This is a hybrid role based in our Gloucester office, you must live within a commutable distance. As part of Destination Sport Group ("DSG"), Mike Burton creates and delivers major brand, customer and revenue focused ticketing and travel programmes around the globe, working in direct partnership with organisations that include the British & Irish Lions and England Rugby.

Reporting to the Sales Manager for the Mike Burton Group and sitting in a team that includes Marketing, Insight, Product and Sales, the Sales Executive will be part of a team responsible for selling customers a wide range of ticket-inclusive travel packages for up to five different businesses simultaneously. Through a mixture of inbound and outbound relationship building, the role will have a keen eye on retention and maximisation of opportunities. The role will work with iconic sporting brands such as England Rugby, The Open and the British & Irish Lions.

No two days are the same in this sales focused role but on a typical day you will:

  • Be responsible for increasing the company’s sales and revenue, primarily through existing clients with responsibility for finding new sales avenues.
  • Identify the right product options for the clients, managing relationships and closing the sale.
  • Use strong communication primarily through telephone and email, to negotiate and build relationships while driving revenue.
  • Grow an in-depth product knowledge with a desire to develop customer relationships through CRM and interpersonal skills.
  • Ensure regular and timely monitoring of product availability and customer requirements in line with demand.
  • Work as part of a wider marketing, product and insight teams to achieve company goals and targets.
  • Constantly strive to create and develop sales-focused and relevant campaigns with the marketing team that matches product availability, customer demand and is innovative and progressive, where relevant, within the applicable target market.
  • Have a constant and detailed understanding and assessment of the competition and the travel industry to ensure the organisation’s product is at the forefront of relevant market factors, including inclusions, structure and innovation.
  • Continually work closely with the marketing, insight, product and customer services teams to have a swift and informed knowledge of customer feedback as and when events happen.

To be successful within this role, our ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience in an inbound and outbound sales role, preferably within sport travel industries.
  • Be a confident individual who takes initiative & ownership of end-to-end processes.
  • Have the desire to make a difference, create and implement innovative and impactful sales ideas and techniques.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of CRM; sales techniques and sports travel would be beneficial.
  • Be a great team player, happy to ‘help out’ in other areas that will help grow your experience and opportunities.
  • Have experience of working across teams in the business so good interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Demonstrate a love for building effective relationships both within and outside of the business to help you achieve your aims and objectives.
  • Be computer literate with experience of CRM, Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Have the ability to work within a team environment to achieve team/department objectives.
  • Have exceptional communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to build strong rapport with a range of stakeholders.
  • Be solutions orientated with a passion for problem solving.
  • Be well organised and good at prioritising workloads.
  • Have the ability to think logically and consider all relevant aspects with strong sales skills.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
  • Be abreast of developments in the world of sport, in travel and other disciplines to identify opportunities for the business.
