About the Role
No two days are the same at Mikare. As a Family Support Worker, you'll work closely with parents and their children in a supportive residential environment, helping families develop the skills and confidence they need to provide safe, nurturing care.

We are now looking for caring, committed and professional Sessional / Bank Family Support Workers to join our team at Ashcombe House.
You will play an important role in supporting parents and children during residential family placements, helping parents develop their parenting skills while contributing to robust, evidence-based parenting assessments.
Location and pay
Location: Ashcombe House, Weston-super-Mare
Salary range -Β£14.76 p/hr Day Shifts & Β£17.10 p/hr Waking Nights
Hours - Casual hours
Shifts:

Day: 9:00am β 9:00pm (12 hours)

Waking Night: 8:30pm β 9:30am (13 hours)
Key Responsibilities

Provide parents with practical advice, guidance and support around the daily care of their child.

Create a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment for children and families.

Observe and record parents' interactions and parenting abilities accurately and objectively.

Contribute to parenting assessments, care plans, risk assessments and review meetings.

Build positive, respectful and non-judgemental relationships with parents and children.

Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, always keeping the child's welfare at the centre of your work.

Work closely with Social Workers, Psychologists, Health Visitors and other professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Support parents to develop their parenting abilities, confidence and life skills through advice, guidance and positive role modelling.

Maintain clear, accurate and confidential records in line with data protection requirements.

Attend meetings, supervision and training, and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.

Where required, travel with families for home visits and outreach work.
About You
We are looking for someone who is compassionate, observant, reliable and confident working with families in potentially challenging circumstances. You will need excellent communication skills, a non-judgemental approach and a strong commitment to safeguarding children.
Previous experience of working with children, families, social care or residential services would be advantageous.
