Our client, a well-established, leading building contractor, have an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join their growing business. With offices based in Verwood, they provide accredited building services to clients throughout the corporate, commercial and public sectors.
We are looking for someone who may be degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction management or equivalent. Someone who has also worked within Quantity Surveyor, within a construction company, has knowledge of subcontract and commercial management processes and a very strong understanding of construction contractual procedures.
As the Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will be the following:
- Pre-Construction & Project Handover
- Commercial – such as reviewing documents and drawings, identifying commercial risks and opportunities within project documentation
- Procurement & Subcontractor Management
- Valuations & Applications for Payment
- Cost Management & Reporting
- Variations & Change Management
- Negotiate variation values with clients and subcontractors
- Ensure approved variations are incorporated into project financial reporting
- Contract Administration
- Site & Project Support
- Dispute Avoidance & Resolution
- Final Accounts & Project Close-Out duties
- Other ad hoc duties as required
The role will require working in a team and individually, ensuring all projects are seamless and in return you will build a strong career with an exceptionally great organisation who will support you in your path with them.
As an ideal candidate you will hold the following skills and experience:
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or construction
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
- Knowledge of subcontract procurement and commercial management processes
- Understanding of construction contracts and contractual procedures
- Strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
