About this role: Are you passionate about creating positive change and ensuring every student feels they belong at university? We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative intern to join the College of Health, Science and Society (CHSS) Widening Participation Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of the College's flagship student engagement programmes, supporting a team of Student Advocates who work to improve the experiences of students from underrepresented communities. Working alongside the Senior Race Equality Project Consultant, you'll help recruit, train and support our Student Advocates while contributing to a wide range of widening participation and equality initiatives across the College.

No two days are the same. One day you may be planning advocate training or supporting a student-led event, the next you could be coordinating our podcast, creating engaging digital content, producing communications, or working with academic staff on projects that amplify student voice. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in student engagement, project coordination, communications, event planning, and inclusive practice while developing valuable skills that will support your future career.

About you: We're looking for someone who is organised, motivated, and enjoys working with people. You will be a current or former UWE Bristol student within the College of Health, Science and Society who is passionate about creating positive change for students from underrepresented backgrounds. You'll enjoy building relationships, communicating with a wide range of people, and supporting others to succeed. You will be confident using digital platforms, willing to learn new skills, and comfortable managing a variety of projects at the same time. Ideally, you'll have experience of working with students, organising activities or events, creating digital content or communications, or supporting equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives. Experience of social media, podcast production, or student representation would also be beneficial, although training and support will be provided. Most importantly, you'll be someone who shares our commitment to inclusion, collaboration, and ensuring that student voices help shape positive change across the University.

Where you will be working: UWE Bristol is a campus-based University, with vibrant campus communities that are central to student life. This role is based across both our Frenchay and Glenside campuses, where you'll work alongside colleagues and students from across the College of Health, Science and Society. You'll spend most of your time on campus, supporting student advocates, attending meetings, delivering activities and events, and collaborating with colleagues across the College. There may also be opportunities for occasional home working where appropriate and agreed with your line manager.

Shortlisting is expected to be completed within 2 weeks of the closing date depending on application volumes. We aim to give candidates at least a week's notice to attend interview. This is a fixed-term internship for 12 months, working 25 hours per week. This post is open to current UWE Bristol students undertaking a placement year and recent UWE Bristol graduates. Please note: Current UWE Bristol students are normally permitted to undertake a maximum of 16 hours of paid employment per week during term time. As this internship is 25 hours per week, current students must be undertaking a placement year or otherwise be eligible to work these contracted hours as part of the UWE Internship Programme. This post is not available on a job share basis, as the role requires continuity to build strong relationships with student advocates, coordinate projects and deliver activities consistently throughout the academic year. Salary offers are made in line with the University's salary assessment guidelines, reflecting your relevant skills and experience in parity with colleagues.
