Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated, customer-focused Retail Store Manager with a growth mentality and a detailed approach to their day-to-day work to join our team and take the lead in our Morrisons Daily store, in the centre of our busy Frenchay campus.

A background of working in the grocery retail sector in a similar role is essential, as well as experience working in a large department within a complex organisation. From being proactive in improving the financial performance of the store, through leading a team putting the customer first, keeping accurate stock levels, all the way to ensuring the store standards are maintained at all times, the performance expected of the Retail team will show through your commitment, expertise and passion to achieve the very best in everything that you do.

Our store supports not only the 3,000 resident students but also the students living off-campus and staff, as well as visitors to the campus. This busy store is at the heart of the student experience, and we are looking for someone who can be adaptable to the day and the week’s requirements.

Day to day, you’ll manage and oversee the complete operations of the retail store, managing the Team Leaders and Retail Assistants, as well as any Casual and Agency staff that may be involved in the running of the store, training up new members of the team, setting and working to financial targets and managing the required Due diligence processes; this role is essential in delivering an exceptional experience to all our customers.

You’ll be part of the Hospitality department, where we cater for around 100,000 people each week, serving an array of different types of food and drinks in our 13 catering outlets across 3 campuses all located in Bristol.

There are many benefits to working with us, for example,

  • a good work-life balance
  • an amazing pension scheme
  • excellent leave allowance starting at a minimum of 25 days
  • the option to buy a TOTUM card (student discount card)
  • a cycle to work scheme
  • many more!

We expect all our retail staff to be available to work between 6:30 am and 12:30 am Monday to Sunday, with shifts on a rota basis, and it’s no different for the Store Management team.

This is a permanent role, working 37 hours per week, and we’ve got some really generous overtime rates to make overtime worth your while.

Overtime is paid at time and a half, with double time on a Sunday.
