About the Role
We\βre looking for a Group Cyber Security Engineer to join our Group IT Security team. You\βll play a key role in safeguarding our infrastructure across the Midwich Group, conducting vulnerability/penetration testing, responding to incidents, and implementing cutting-edge security controls.
What you will be doing in this role
- Conducting internal and external penetration testing across the Group
- Monitoring, analysing, and supporting security infrastructure
- Performing vulnerability scanning and recommending solutions
- Implementing and managing security tools and controls
- Responding to cyber security incidents and contributing to major incident processes
- Conducting risk assessments, audits, and access control reviews
- Ensuring documentation of security operations and processes
- Collaborating with support teams to mitigate risks
- Reviewing system and service usage and advising on decommissioning
- Supporting the management of major incidents and participating in team meetings
- Promoting best practice and change management
What you will bring to the role
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server OS
- Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Linux administration
- Hands-on experience with penetration testing and tools like Kali Linux or Parrot OS
- Familiarity with OpenVAS, DarkTrace, Security Onion, and vulnerability scanning tools
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts (OSI, TCP/IP)
- Proficiency in coding/scripting languages for automation or exploit development
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- A desire for continuous learning and self-development
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and work to strict deadlines
