A local manufacturing business is looking to recruit an experienced Casting Machine Setter / Operative to join its die casting team. The role involves setting and operating zinc die casting machines within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment, ensuring consistent quality and efficient machine performance. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining stable production processes, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring machinery operates safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate zinc die casting machines ranging from 20t to 200t.
- Monitor machine performance and make parameter adjustments to maintain production quality.
- Identify and control process variations to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Replace consumable machine parts including goosenecks, pistons, piston rings, and carry out accumulator charging.
- Perform routine machine checks and basic maintenance tasks.
- Work closely with production and quality teams to achieve operational targets.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
Skills & Experience
- Ideally a minimum of three years’ experience setting die casting machines.
- Candidates with other relevant machine-setting experience will also be considered.
- Experience setting plastic injection moulding machines would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of production processes and quality standards.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
