Are you a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working as part of a busy team? Danesfield School is looking for a General Catering Assistant to help provide high-quality, nutritious meals for our pupils as we prepare for an exciting new chapter joining the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership (MNSP) this September. Danesfield is a welcoming and inclusive school at the heart of the local community. Our catering team plays a vital role in supporting pupils' health, wellbeing and learning by providing nutritious meals and a positive dining experience every day.

About the Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and serving of fresh, nutritious meals, sandwiches, salads and light food items.
  • Supporting basic cooking tasks such as preparing vegetables and simple food preparation.
  • Operating kitchen equipment safely (training provided where required).
  • Setting up and clearing the dining hall, maintaining a welcoming environment for pupils.
  • Operating the cashless catering system and providing excellent customer service.
  • Washing crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and health & safety.
  • Recording food and storage temperatures in line with food safety regulations.
  • Supporting catering for school events, meetings and functions.
  • Assisting with the loading and, where required, delivery of prepared meals to local schools using the school catering vehicle.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has good customer service skills and enjoys working with children.
  • Has a positive, flexible and reliable approach to work.
  • Works well as part of a team in a busy environment.
  • Can follow instructions and maintain high standards.
  • Holds a current Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Has a full, clean driving licence.
  • Is physically able to undertake manual handling tasks associated with the role.
