About our Specialist Resource Base

Since opening in September 2023, our Specialist Resource Base (SRB) has become a beacon of inclusive excellence for children with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP) whose primary need is SPLD (Specific Learning Difficulty). Located in the heart of our school, Comets is an expertly adapted space featuring its own sensory area and high-quality technology. We don’t just offer a classroom; we offer a bespoke environment where children are empowered to celebrate their differences and build on their unique strengths.

Our Vision

We believe in nurturing educated, caring individuals who embody our core values: Kindness, Fairness, and Respect. Our goal is to provide the "scaffolding" for success—teaching children the strategies they need to raise their self-esteem and build confidence. Whether they are working within the base, transitioning into a mainstream classroom, or engaging with the wider community, we foster ambition and prepare them for a bright future.

The Role: What You’ll Be Doing

  • Tailored Support: Deliver high-quality, bespoke learning experiences adapted from the National Curriculum.
  • Bridge the Gap: Support children as they move between the specialist base and mainstream classes, ensuring they feel confident and included.
  • Empowerment: Focus on building the "skills, reason, and sensitivity" our children need to thrive.

Who We Are Looking For

We need someone who is as passionate about inclusion as we are. You should be:

  • Empathetic & Patient: Understanding the nuances of SPLD and the barriers these learners face.
  • Adaptable: Ready to pivot your approach based on a child’s unique interests and needs.
  • Values-Driven: A professional who leads with kindness and respect.
  • Collaborative: Able to work closely with the Resource Base lead, mainstream teachers, and families.

Benefits

We value our staff and offer a comprehensive benefits package. Included in your actual annual salary is a generous annual leave entitlement, access to a local government pension scheme, and a sick pay scheme. You can also take advantage of our cycle-to-work scheme, free eye tests, and employee assistance helpline. Additionally, you'll have access to an employee benefits platform which provides savings on everyday essentials, as well as special offers on travel, dining, and entertainment.

How to Apply

If you have the heart and the skills to help our "Comets" shine, we want to hear from you.
