The Role

  • We’re looking for a Senior Economy Designer to own the design, modelling, and balancing of Midnite’s player economies and reward systems, ensuring systems remain stable and scalable.
  • You’ll shape core systems such as XP, rewards, bonuses, and progression loops, creating experiences that are engaging for users while maintaining long-term economic balance, sustainability, and control, all aligned with business goals.
  • This is a highly cross-functional role at the intersection of product, data, and economics. You’ll combine player intuition with rigorous modelling to design systems that scale, contributing to the design and balancing of mechanics, applying probabilistic and mathematical modelling.
  • Working closely with Product, Data, and Engineering, you’ll define how systems behave end-to-end, from player actions through to rewards and long-term retention.
  • You’ll act as the guardian of Midnite’s economy, ensuring all systems remain balanced as the product and systems scale.

You will:

  • Design, own, and continuously optimise Midnite’s core economy systems across XP, rewards, progression, incentives, and multiple player currencies.
  • Build forecasting models and simulations to evaluate player behaviour, economy health, and the impact of system changes before launch.
  • Monitor live economy performance, identifying imbalances, exploitative behaviours, and opportunities to improve engagement and retention.
  • Partner closely with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to implement, refine, and scale economy systems across the platform.
  • Use data, experimentation, and player insight to influence product decisions and shape long-term economy strategy.

Requirements

  • Will have 5+ years experience in economy design, data science, or applied economics (ideally in gaming, betting, or similar systems-driven products).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative modelling skills (e.g. simulation, forecasting, or probabilistic systems), with proficiency in tools like SQL and Python.
  • Previous experience designing or balancing complex systems (e.g. economies, rewards, marketplaces).
  • A deep understanding of experimentation and data-driven iteration.
  • An ability to combine player intuition with rigorous analysis.
  • Clear communication and strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • A background in economics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field.

Benefits

  • Private health insurance with zero excess, including optical cover and optional dental.
  • Income protection to protect your earnings and give you peace of mind.
  • Tenure holiday policy. After three years you receive an extra two days leave, increasing to 30 days annually after five years.
  • Flexible working and a fully supported home office setup so you can do your best work from home.
  • Nursery salary sacrifice scheme helping parents save thousands each year on nursery fees.
  • Salary sacrifice schemes for tech and holidays so you can spread the cost of the things you want.
  • Retail discounts and subscription perks across a wide range of brands.
  • Quarterly team socials to connect, celebrate and have fun together.
