Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic teachers who are committed to excellence and ready to work in a dynamic part of Scotland. You will support the Head Teacher in the performance of their duties by assisting, and where necessary, deputising for the Head Teacher in the leadership and management of school affairs. As part of the Senior Management Team, lead and manage whole school policy, its implementation and evaluation. Support the management and development of the school curriculum, learning and teaching provision in order to promote improved educational outcomes.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage whole school policy, its implementation and evaluation as part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Support the management and development of the school curriculum, learning and teaching provision to promote improved educational outcomes.
  • Assist, and where necessary deputise for the Head Teacher in the leadership and management of school affairs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements

  • This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
  • Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
  • Salary for this post will be in accordance with SNCT agreements. Applicants must be or eligible to be fully GTC Scotland registered. If you qualified as a Teacher outwith Scotland, please visit GTCS – Qualified Outside Scotland for information around obtaining registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland.
  • The advertised salary is for a DHT, Point 7. This post is currently subject to a job sizing exercise which may result in either a Point 6 or Point 7 scale. For further information, please contact Neil Hendry, HT.
  • Please note that the grade for this position may be subject to change. Promoted Teaching Posts that meet the criteria will be resized on an annual basis, in line with the SNCT Handbook. Any grade change will be effective from 1st August each year.
