The children in Burnbrae Primary deserve excellent staff who are forward thinking and aspirational to support the learning for our children in social contexts such as lunchtime as well as other times. Burnbrae Primary is a large, modern, non-denominational school over two campuses, situated in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian. We have a large Nursery and ASN Provision at Burnbrae Early situated on a Joint Campus with St Mary’s RC Primary. At the Burnbrae Road Campus we have 17 classes in our Primary School Primaries 1-7.

The Senior Leadership Team consists of a Head Teacher, three Depute Head Teachers and is supported by four Principal Teachers (2 part time). Our vision is to Be You, Belong, Connect and Grow. You will have interest and experience in supporting children who experience barriers to their learning through additional support needs. An understanding of trauma informed practice, compassion and patience are desirable. This post is for Wee Brae, our ASN Provision working with children with a variety of barriers to learning.

You will work as part of a team with teachers, Early Years Practitioners and Learning Assistants led by a Principal Teacher. We will provide in-house training and development opportunities to meet the needs of children and support professional development. Although no formal qualifications are required, jobholders must have previous experience and an understanding of the needs of small children and be able to respond to the general welfare of pupils.

Position Title: Supervisory Assistant - Dining Room

Contract Status: Fixed Term until 26th June 2026

Hours of Work: 8 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday- Thursday 11:30-13:30

Weeks per year: 38

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Based on 8 hours over 38 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is Β£5,026.24 per annum.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
