As part of the drive to meet the infrastructure needs of communities in Scotland’s second fastest growing local authority in Scotland, Midlothian Council is seeking to recruit a dynamic, effective and client focused project manager to be the Educational lead on major projects as part of their Learning Estates team.

\\n

You will be the Education Project Manager representing the Department on project boards, facing our in-house multi-disciplinary Development Team – which oversees the delivery of the Council’s ambitious capital programme, providing project management for complex multi-million pound projects. You will be responsible for the delivery of capital projects, to ensure projects are delivered on programme, within budget, in accordance with governance arrangements and reporting controls and to specified quality standards with best value delivery that meets the needs of our communities now and in the future.

Significant projects in the Learning Estate capital programme include: three new High Schools and 8 new primary schools (5 before 2025), and numerous extensions for both Primary education, Early Years and accommodation for Additional Support Needs.

You will be the lead in monitoring, updating and reporting on the progress of the Council’s Learning Estate Strategy through your membership of the Project Boards.

You will be responsible for ensuring the Suitability of our Learning Estate by conducting surveys on an annual basis.

KNOWLEDGE

\\n

It is essential that the jobholder has substantial project management experience in project management and delivery and can evidence previous client responsibilities on large capital projects. It is also essential that the jobholder has some knowledge with regards to the planning process. In addition, the jobholder must have well developed communication skills, for example good interaction and the ability to deliver interesting presentations.

\\n

The post requires the jobholder to have skills in example report writing, achievement of deadlines, the ability to think conceptually, and communicate advice and guidance articulately, and extensive, relevant Project Management experience.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £46,511.92 per annum. 

Responsibilities

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check will be met by you.

Please note that Disclosure Scotland has changed the way disclosure certificates are issued. You will be notified by email from Disclosure Scotland that your certificate is available to view. Once you have viewed your certificate you will be allowed to share this with your employer and it is only available for 14 days from the first day you have viewed the certificate.
