We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced manager in social care to lead and manage this Extra Care Housing facility. A commitment to supporting tenants in maintaining independent lives within an accommodation-based setting, requiring strong leadership, excellent communication, and experience in housing, health, or social care.

Key duties include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the scheme
  • Overseeing staff
  • Collaborating with external agencies
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of tenants

Essential qualifications include a Diploma in Social Work or equivalent, SVQ 4 in Care or SVQ 4 in Health and Social Care, and Registered Managers Award or equivalent with previous experience of work at a senior level in either Residential Care, Extra Care Housing or Care at Home. The jobholder must meet the requirements of Scottish Social Services Council Registration for Housing Support Service and Care and Home Services within the required deadlines.

Desirable: Tenancy management experience related to housing for older people (e.g. amenity or sheltered housing) with associated understanding of tenancy agreements, rent account procedures and tenant participation.

Contract Status: Permanent

Hours of Work: 36 hours per week

Working Pattern: 9am-5pm Monday - Thursday and 9am-3.30pm Friday

Weeks per year: 52

Please note that it is Midlothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £48,370.86 per annum.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with Protected Adults. Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
