An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in partnership with key agencies, including Police, Health and the Third Sector, to influence and support the delivery of the National Strategy for Community Justice within Midlothian. This post is available as a result of maternity leave cover and offers an excellent development opportunity for the successful candidate to enhance their skills and knowledge of strategic partnership working, planning, and managing change at a system level. Secondment applications will be considered.

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to bring partners together to achieve a common goal. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong value base, an understanding of the factors contributing to offending behaviour and a positive commitment to rehabilitation and reintegration.

Community Justice is at the heart of preventing offending and re-offending in Midlothian. It represents the individuals, agencies and services that work together to support, manage and supervise people who have committed offences or who may be at risk of committing offences. The Community Justice Partnership aims to support and manage offenders in the community, from the point of arrest through to the end of sentence and to being fully reintegrated into the community. Community Justice promotes desistance, social inclusion, and citizenship. Local communities and the third sector are a vital part of Community Justice; a strong partnership-working approach is critical to its success. The Partnership’s key aim is to ensure Midlothian is a safe place to live, grow up, work and visit.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Essential
    • The jobholder must hold a degree or equivalent level of qualification in a relevant subject indicative of the ability to research, analyse and report.
    • Experience of service planning or development.
    • Practical experience of partnership working.
    • Knowledge of current issues in Community Justice.
    • Proven report writing and presentation skills.
    • An understanding of performance management.
    • A high level of competency in communication, presentational and interpersonal skills, strong organisational and analytical skills and practical facilitation skills.
  • Desirable
    • A postgraduate qualification from a recognised professional institute in a relevant discipline or similar subject.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007.
