Overview
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Qualifications
Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy at Standard Grade level or SVQ2 in Early Years Care and Education, or National Certificate unit in Childcare & Education or equivalent competency. Familiar with child development and able to respond to the needs of individual special needs pupils. Previous experience in this field supporting clients with special needs, administering medication and providing personal and intimate care. Certificates in manual handling, food hygiene, body spills and basic emergency first aid. PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children (or willingness to join/update prior to commencing employment); the cost will be borne by the applicant.

Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with staff and pupils and provide sensitive support to pupils with special needs. Administer medication and provide personal and intimate care where required. Respond to the needs of individual pupils in line with child development knowledge. Undertake additional training courses such as Move, Calm, sing-along and ongoing training provided by the Therapist for individual pupils.

Conditions and Additional Information
Based on 26.83 hours over 39 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £19,678.68 per annum. This post is subject to PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment, the cost of which will be met by you.
