Permanent Full Time
Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 30 primary schools (19 with nurseries), and 2 standalone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, supports children with various physical, social, emotional, behavioural, and learning difficulties. School sizes range from around 20 to over 1200 pupils, serving diverse rural and urban catchments. Several new schools have been built recently, with more planned.

Requirements
- Pre-Employment Checks/Requirements for Teaching Positions: If successful, employment will be conditional upon satisfactory completion of checks, including medical screening, two references (one from your current employer), verification of qualifications, and eligibility to work in the UK. Registration with the General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS) and a PVG check for Regulated Work with Children are mandatory.
- Registration with GTCS: Applicants for permanent posts must be fully registered with GTCS. More information is available at www.gtcs.org.uk.
- Regulated Work with Children: This role is considered Regulated Work with Children under the PVG Scheme (Scotland) Act 2007. Applicants must not be barred from working with children. Successful candidates will need PVG Scheme membership, which involves a fee of £59, payable via salary deduction over 6 pay periods, and a PVG Record Update at £18, payable over 2 pay periods. The fee will be deducted from final salary if employment ends early.
- Applicants must disclose any unspent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Failure to disclose may result in withdrawal of an offer. Having a criminal record does not automatically disqualify an applicant; suitability depends on the specifics of the case.
