Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 4 of our secondary schools having been built within the last 10 years with several new builds planned.
Lasswade Primary School is a co-educational and non-denominational primary school situated in Bonnyrigg. Lasswade is an open plan school set in its own grounds, with a large playing field. PE often takes place outside and all our classes currently have Outdoor Learning every week as part of the NCCT arrangements, we are committed to developing this at our school and utilising our lovely grounds. We have 13 classes and an Early Learning and Childcare Setting (ELC) with space for 64 children on a full time basis. We have 392 children attending our school and ELC in total, there are generally 2 classes at each stage but we do also have composite classes at times.
The main building consists of 5 wings, 4 where our Primary 1-6 pupils learn and 1 where our ELC children attend. We have a new building in the playground which has 2 classrooms for our Primary 7 learners. A large hall serves the purpose of dining hall/gymnasium as well as allowing us a large space to gather as a school. The Senior Leadership Team comprises of a Head Teacher and two Depute Head Teachers and we have 1 Senior Early Years Practitioner leading our ELC. At Lasswade, we place our learners at the centre of all we do and we strive to ensure that all our children are nurtured and cared for and supported to achieve their highest potential.

If you are successful, our offer of employment will be conditional on satisfactory completion of pre-employment requirements, such as medical screening, two written references, one which must be from your most recent/current employer, verification of your original qualifications and your eligibility to work in the United Kingdom. Registration with the General Teaching Council and a satisfactory PVG check for Regulated Work with Children will also be essential.
