Role Description

Founding Editorial Board Members will play a central role in establishing and managing the editorial processes of the Midlands Student Law Review. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include reviewing and selecting submissions, editing and refining manuscripts, coordinating with authors, and ensuring adherence to academic and ethical standards. Board members will also help develop editorial policies, plan future issues, contribute to strategic decisions about the journal’s growth, and support outreach to universities, student groups, and professional networks. This is a full‑time, on‑site role located in Royal Sutton Coldfield, requiring regular collaboration with other board members and contributors to maintain a consistent publication schedule and high editorial standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities, with experience in producing or reviewing academic legal work.
  • Editing and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and familiarity with citation standards and academic style guides.
  • Organizational and time‑management skills to oversee multiple submissions, deadlines, and editorial projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset and communication skills to work effectively with authors, fellow board members, and external partners.
  • Interest in legal scholarship, current legal developments, and promoting student‑led research and commentary.
  • Prior involvement with law reviews, journals, or academic committees is beneficial but not essential.
  • Enrollment in, or completion of, a law degree or related legal studies is strongly preferred.
