Voluntary Board Members for Rural Housing Association - Warwickshire. Warwickshire Rural Housing Association (WRHA) are looking to recruit new members to strengthen and balance their board. They have been building and managing affordable rural homes for local people for more than 35 years. They provide homes for almost 600 households in rural Warwickshire and are continually working to bring new schemes to reality. They are looking for people who share their passion to provide high-quality affordable homes for local people and support the sustainability of rural villages across Warwickshire.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • To oversee and set the long‑term strategic direction for the organisation.
  • To ensure that the Board fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of the organisation, including compliance.
  • To ensure that performance is monitored and managed through internal controls and delegation.
  • To approve key policies to allow the organisation to achieve its objectives.

What they are looking for in their new board members:

To help them continue to make a big impact across the communities they serve, and shape the future of specialist rural housing, they are keen to hear from people with knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Understanding and championing the resident experience, including multi‑channel engagement.
  • Strategic financial planning and management, including treasury experience.
  • Delivering services strategically to meet the needs of vulnerable or disadvantaged groups.

The Board already has strong expertise in the following areas, but applications are still welcome from people with experience in:

  • Housing development and the planning system.
  • Social and housing policy.
  • Legal expertise.
  • Working within a regulated environment (ideally housing).

The experience and skills you will need:

  • Passion for providing affordable rural housing for local communities.
  • Experience of contributing to the development and delivery of strategic vision and objectives, and steering an organisation to meet them.
  • Understanding and experience of good organisational governance and adherence to good practice.
  • Experience of undertaking organisational performance review.
  • Experience of developing policy in line with organisational objectives.
  • Some experience of risk management.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to engage with external stakeholders of all backgrounds.
  • A team player.
  • Ability to scrutinise and challenge constructively in a positive manner.
  • Willingness to maintain knowledge of housing environment.
