As a CAMHS practitioner, you will have an active role in providing assessments and interventions to autistic children and young people experiencing a high level of distress, requiring specialist, trauma-informed intervention. You will work within relevant local, national, and professional guidelines, such as NICE guidelines. Your responsibilities include carrying out holistic assessments (including risk management), managing a small caseload, and delivering person-centred, effective treatments to help autistic children and young people develop skills and strategies to thrive. You will work directly with children and young people with mental health needs or high distress levels to improve their quality of life and wellbeing. Additionally, you will collaborate with their carers, families, and support networks, including schools, social care, voluntary, and partnership agencies, to facilitate positive outcomes related to young people\βs mental and emotional health.
- Provide specialist assessment and care planning in conjunction with autistic young people, their families, and carers.
- Deliver direct interventions to autistic young people and evaluate individual treatment plans.
- Participate in safe and effective discharge planning, working alongside other services to \βstep-down\β young people.
- Manage a small, complex caseload, including specialist assessments, care planning, and evaluation of treatment plans.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with autistic young people who have experienced trauma and have psychological treatment needs, supporting appropriate interventions under team supervision.
