Key Responsibilities:

  • Laundry Care: Sorting, washing, drying, folding, and ironing all personal and house linen, following care home protocols.
  • Garment Maintenance: Inspecting laundry for damage, repairing tears, replacing buttons, and ensuring delicate fabrics receive proper care.
  • Storage & Distribution: Organizing and returning clean laundry to designated areas, including residents' personal storage.
  • Housekeeping Duties: Cleaning resident rooms, communal areas, and maintaining hygiene in laundry spaces.
  • Infection Control & Compliance: Adhering to COSHH regulations, infection prevention measures, and health & safety protocols.
  • Stock Management: Monitoring cleaning and laundry supplies, reporting shortages, and ensuring safe storage of chemicals.
  • Resident Support: Assisting residents with clothing selection and maintenance, ensuring dignity and comfort.

Qualification and Skills:

  • Skills: Basic numeracy and literacy, good spoken English or relevant language for residents.
  • Experience: Prior experience in care homes or hospitality preferred but not essential.
  • Training: Willingness to complete health & safety, infection control, and dementia care awareness training.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating laundry equipment.
