The predicted salary is between 35000 - 45000 Β£ per year.
This is a full-time, on-site Building Inspector role covering Nottingham /Derby areas. The Building Inspector will carry out site and building inspections at various stages of construction to assess compliance with Building Regulations and relevant technical standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing plans and specifications
- Checking structural, fire safety, accessibility, energy efficiency, and public health requirements
- Documenting findings in clear, accurate reports
- Advising clients, designers, and contractors on compliance issues
- Identifying any non-conformances and agreeing appropriate remedial actions
- Supporting project coordination with internal colleagues and external stakeholders
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulations and best practices
- Contributing to a professional, customer-focused service
Qualifications:
- Strong Building Inspections and Inspection experience, with the ability to assess works at different construction stages for regulatory compliance
- Practical Site Inspections experience, including working safely on active construction sites and liaising with site teams
- Knowledge of Code Enforcement and Building Regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant standards and guidance
- Understanding of Plumbing and associated building services to verify compliance with applicable technical requirements
- Relevant professional qualification in Building Control, Construction, Surveying, or a related field (e.g., degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience)
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CABE, RICS, CIOB) is highly desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear report writing and the ability to explain technical issues to non-specialists
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency with standard office and inspection-related software, and willingness to use digital tools for recording and reporting
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites across the region as required
