Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) is an exciting arts centre offering free exhibitions, theatre, music, cinema and comedy, plus creative learning activities. Well-loved and well used, it's a relaxed, friendly place attracting a diverse mix of visitors. We are recruiting a Shift Leader to join our busy Catering department on a variable hours contract. Please note: this role includes evenings and weekends. Job Purpose To ensure the smooth running of the restaurant and other service areas, supporting the management team to deliver a great customer experience across the restaurant, express kiosk, bar, and events/conference spaces. Key Responsibilities Operational Open and close service areas, receive deliveries, issue floats, cash up and complete all relevant records Ensure food and beverages are fully stocked, attractively presented and displayed in a clean environment Operate the till accurately, handling cash and card payments Prepare and deliver catering for corporate events as required Ensure correct use of the EPOS system and support catering CSAs Communicate effectively across catering, customer service and other departments Customer Service Deliver excellent customer service to MAC visitors and staff Handle complaints and escalate unresolved issues to the Duty Manager Monitor product quality and report issues to the Catering Manager Monitor customer behaviour and report any concerns to Duty Managers Staff Management Direct and support catering staff throughout the shift Act as first point of contact for staff queries and issues Assist with induction and ongoing training Support staff scheduling and ensure uniform standards are upheld Help maintain high morale across service areas Health Safety Maintain accurate HACCP, COSHH and all compliance documentation Ensure hygiene, cleanliness and H S standards are upheld Rotate, label and store stock in line with food hygiene procedures Act as Fire Marshall during evacuations Follow all Environmental Health, Weights and Measures, and personal hygiene requirements Other Support cross-departmental working and MAC's policies, procedures and environmental goals Undertake any other reasonable duties as required Equal Opportunities Diversity MAC is committed to an inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds feel valued and empowered. Person Specification Essential: Experience in a busy restaurant or bar Cash handling and EPOS experience Basic food hygiene knowledge Able to work under pressure, multitask and delegate effectively Excellent communication skills; friendly, reliable and hardworking Flexible β evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays required Desirable: Food Hygiene Level 2 (training available) Experience in a multifunctional venue Supervisory experience and previous cashing up Knowledge of H S, Food Safety and Licensing laws Barista and/or bar experience Interest in hospitality trends and the arts How to Apply Apply via the Hireful application system, answering all questions.
