University Hospitals Dorset are looking to recruit a General Maintenance Assistant to work as part of their Estates team at Poole Hospital. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a keen understanding of all modern general maintenance activities, both reactive and planned; they will require a willingness to learn, be a dedicated team player and have a proven track record.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work unsupervised and maintain a flexible approach to working hours. Knowledge of at least one of the following subjects would be of major advantage, although training will be given:
- Basic mechanical & electrical systems
- Water testing routines

Qualifications
Essential criteria:
- Must hold a driving licence (manual)
- GCSE grade C or above or equivalent in English and maths
Desirable criteria:
- Computer literacy
- NVQ in an engineering or construction based subject
Experience
Essential criteria:
- Able to communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing
- Be computer literate and able to record data
- Able to work unsupervised in a variety of situations requiring interaction with staff from other departments and patients/patients’ families
Desirable criteria:
- Previous building services experience in a complex building environment or similar
- Background in Engineering
Knowledge
