Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) are looking to recruit a BI Developer to work within the Business Intelligence Service, which is responsible for performance improvement and contract management of existing services, and provision of reporting functionality to support operational management of clinical services. The Trust aims to use Power BI to provide interactive visualisations with self-service business intelligence capabilities, where end users can create reports and dashboards by themselves, without having to depend on information technology staff or database administrators.

Core to this is the function of improving, maintaining and administrating both the Trust's Data Warehouse and the associated Power BI reporting systems, where the position holder will be expected to utilise their advanced level SQL, SSRS & Power BI skills to manage both routine and ad-hoc processes and developments within the current framework. A key part of the role will be to work closely with the Data Warehouse Data Architect to facilitate continued systems development.

Main duties of the job:

  • Develop new database and reporting systems to support the delivery of the Trust's BI Systems Power BI Project.
  • Manage and understand the full life-cycle of system and report development within a SQL/SSRS/Power BI environment, including all aspects of access control, maintaining data integrity, investigating errors and implementing bug-fixes.
  • Manage development activity and administration of the team's SQL data warehouse, used as a central point of collation for the Trust's various system data-streams.
  • Provide direct support to members of the BI Service, providing information to support reporting to Operational Managers & Leads.
  • Become proficient in understanding how the Trust's Data Warehouse works, and the implications of changes, both from an Operational and Business Intelligence point of view.
  • Maintain an expert knowledge of the Trust's PAS system SystmOne, other corporate information systems (such as ESR, Datix, IWGC), and an in-depth understanding of how its data is interpreted within the Trust's Data-Warehouse in relation to reporting and data extraction.

NHFT is an integrated community care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
