Specialist Rotational Paediatric Physiotherapist
Location: Cardiff and the Vale UHB – a multi‑site service including community, children’s, special schools and children’s hospital settings. This Band 6 Rol ational post offers an extensive training programme and clear career progression across acute, community and specialist services.
Job Overview
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen due to investment and workforce re‑design within the service. The post is a Band 6 rotational position across paediatrics, allowing vast and varied experience across community, acute and specialist services.
Responsibilities
- Work as an autonomous practitioner, undertaking specialist clinical duties within a defined paediatric clinical area.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver physiotherapy services to children and young people.
- Provide paediatric physiotherapy on‑call, emergency duty rota and extended hours at the National Army Children’s Hospital (NACHfW). Participation in weekend and bank holiday service is required.
- Adopt flexible working patterns as required by service demand, including 7‑day job plans and unsocial hours.
- Offer clinical cover across various paediatric settings – community, schools, children’s centre and hospital.
- Possess the ability to speak Welsh (desirable); bilingual English/Welsh or English speakers are welcome.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Recognised qualification / degree equivalent in Physiotherapy.
- H.C.P.C registration.
Desirable qualifications
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
Experience
- Essential: Experience across a broad range of clinical areas at Band 5 level; relevant post‑registration experience; experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Desirable: Experience providing clinical supervision; experience working with children in acute and community environments.
Skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (with healthcare professionals and the public).
- Ability to maintain accurate, legible treatment records and statistical information.
- Ability to manage a clinical caseload independently.
- Desirable: Competent in IMT skills, presentation skills, evidence of audit and research involvement.
Special Knowledge
- Essential: Evidence of relevant CPD; specialist clinical knowledge of inpatient and community physiotherapy.
- Desirable: Evidence of relevant postgraduate training courses.
Additional Requirements
- Participation in emergency weekend and on‑call rota.
