An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardiorespiratory Team/Chest Pain Unit to work 30 hours per week – Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday. Based in the Chest Pain Unit or Cardiorespiratory department on a rota, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player to work within our fast‑paced, busy receptionist/administrator team. You will have excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, with a background in administration or customer service. It is a requirement that you are a flexible staff member, have a good telephone manner with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Main duties of the job:
- Register patients on arrival, ensuring all demographic and episode details are recorded on the patient administration system.
- Use the patient administration system and other Trust applications required to support the patient’s pathway.
- Arrange outpatient clinic appointments for patients where necessary; when appropriate arrange ambulance transport for patients.
- Deal with all queries, either via telephone or face‑to‑face promptly and efficiently.
- Complete general administration tasks, including filing, photocopying, emailing, fault reporting, arrangement of patient follow‑up appointments, all case‑note preparation for admissions, ensuring tests and investigations are correctly completed.
- Ensure on a daily basis that all discharges are completed on the appropriate system in a timely fashion.
- Provide administration support for the senior clinical and non‑clinical team if required.

Person specification:
- Communication and relationship skills: Communicate routine information with team, patients, other departments and external contacts. Able to receive and communicate information through various sources. Deal with queries via the telephone and face‑to‑face.
- Knowledge, training and experience: Good standard of English to O level/GCSE (A‑C /1‑2 grade). Demonstrable experience working in an administrative role. Standard level of IT literacy with experience of using a range of IT applications.
- Desirable criteria: Ability to work under pressure and meet strict Trust deadlines. Knowledge of the RTT (Referral To Treatment) waiting list procedures. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
